......The Door Youth Centre began operation in 1999 in Orangeville, providing a safe place for youth who have nothing to do and who would typically be hanging out on the streets. Since that time our staff have worked hard to establish a rapport and build trust relationships with the youth who attend. |
| ......During the past 6 years we have noticed an increase in youth who choose not to go home but prefer to live outside, with friends, or wherever they can. The relationship we have with many of the youth who are currently homeless or at risk of becoming homeless gives us an avenue to address their needs and work with them to resolve their problems. |
 |
| ......Our efforts thus far have been fruitful. Our staff and volunteers go out during the late hours of the evening where youth are congregating, such as parking lots, fields, laundromats and vacant cars. We provide them with whatever assistance we can to help them identify their needs and help them solve their problems. |
